The Leadhills railway in Scotland is a short pleasurable 2ft gauged railway. The Leadhills and Wanlockhead Branch of the Caledonian Railway

LocationEdit

The railway is in the Lowther Hills on the B797, between Clydesdale (M74) and Nithsdale (A76). Access from the M74 is via Junction 13 (Abington) and the B797 , or Junction 14 (Elvanfoot) and the A702 / B7040. Access from Nithsdale is via the A76 (Dumfries to Sanquhar) and the B797 to Leadhills.

The Railway has for cariges that are equipt with air brakes three coaches are built on frames of wagons once used for moving peat and the other is built on chassis of a Simplex engine. There are a selection of wagons around the railway including the ubiquitous Hudson skip wagons and examples from RNAD.
